Twitter "haters" must respond to Datamation.com writer Mike Elgan's defense of the social networking service.
I'll admit that Twitter and I have not been quick friends, and even now I find the psuedo-social-networking service a little adsurd.
As a journalist at the Syracuse New Times, I lamented the fact that several thousands of years of mankind's pursuit of the art of writing has been simmered and reduced to a restriction of only a few dozen characters (for those who are unfamiliar with Twitter, it's a web service that allows you to post small messages to those who have befriended you on the Web, all messages being forced to meet the requirement of fewer than 140 characters).
However, as a web marketer all of the Web's social networking services, which also include the recently popularized Facebook and the intrepid MySpace, are invaluable tools for promoting your business' web site.
Plus, people are starting to come around to stigmas around Twitter. Check out this article written by Datamation.com writer, Mike Elgan:
Why the Twitter Haters Are Wrong
Elgan's main points are that people dislike Twitter because it makes them feel uncomfortable about posting to large groups of people, and that people have a stereotypical image of the typical Twitter user.
Regardless of how you feel about Twitter, if you're looking to put up a Web page for your business you'll find few tools as powerful as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace for getting the word out about your site.
